14 × 18 inches (35.56 × 45.72 cm) | Original oil and gold leaf on deep-edge canvas

Part of the Abreast collection, exploring women’s journeys through change, the scars we carry, and the strength we discover along the way.

Light finds the seated figure in Shining Through, drawing you towards her presence within the darker setting. As you look, you may sense the gradual return of confidence: the feeling of allowing yourself to take up space and be seen.

The gold leaf invites a reflection on scars as part of a woman’s continuing story. Her experiences remain with her as she develops, discovers new ways of being, and finds moments of openness. You may recognise that movement in yourself or in someone you have watched grow through change.

For a collector, this painting can hold the significance of a turning point, however small or personal. It brings warmth and human presence into a room, with a meaning you can return to over time. Shining Through completes Her Light, the Abreast trilogy with Unseen and Held Within, offering another way of encountering a woman’s strength and inner life.
